SkaterAid To Rock Decatur This Weekend

Friends and family are celebrating the life of Ian Wochatz, a Decatur teen and avid skateboarder who died of brain cancer at age 15 on July 4, 2005.  SkaterAid is an event including lots of skateboarding, entertainment by local bands, and an “ArtDeck” competition.

Since 2005, SkaterAid has donated more than $75,000 to children’s health care organizations. Since 2007, all proceeds from the event have been given to The Brain Tumor Foundation for Children.

The local paper covered the story.

The event is located at East Decatur Station parking lot: 109 New Street, a block west of Avondale MARTA Station in Decatur, Georgia. General admission is $10, students $5. Attendees are encouraged to walk, bike or ride MARTA. Cars should park at the Avondale MARTA parking lot.
